On June 27, 2016, I got the call that one of my friends had committed suicide. He was 17. 

In discussions about suicide I've had with friends, family, and therapists, the phrase "It gets better" is often expressed. We say this as an expression of hope, although we rarely discuss the moments when life got better. With nearly 11% of Americans seriously contemplating suicide in 2020, we hope this project unites those who have struggled while offering encouragement and peace to those still struggling.
